Research
My research focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), business and international development, social and environmental entrepreneurship, and the informal economy. I have a particular interest in Africa, and the role of business in sustainable development and poverty alleviation. My PhD research focused on CSR, development and poverty alleviation in the context of the mining industry in Namibia. In my last appointment as a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast I worked on the ESRC funded Trickle Out Africa Project which examined social and environmental enterprises and their role in sustainable development and poverty alleviation. I also conduct research on informal economy entrepreneurship and wider businesses in Africa. My research has been published in leading international peer review journals, I have also contributed to various books, and I am a regular speaker and contributor to academic conferences.
